A Weekend In Style

It's been a whirlwind week since the site was launched -- just one week ago today!

Friday night, we made our way to Aja in Buckhead to the Ultimate Summer Fashion Show, featuring Raw Denim. While the crowd and show were fun, the highlight for me  was centered around being able to wear the lovely Oscar de la Renta muumuu the way I've envisioned since I stumbled upon this find in North Carolina. With a brightly colored skinny belt, a thrifted necklace and a pair of nude wedges, this frock came to life! It was a colorful evening, and in this summer heat, it just seemed fitting :)

Also, our first business cards arrived and of course I had to accessorize them!

Saturday was equally busy as I hit up the Boutique Bargains blowout sale in Atlantic Station. 20 Boutiques in a huge loft space and savings 50-70% off original prices for their end of season sale -- yes please! Great shopping event and a fun place to meet up with friends. Also excited to wear my new colorful print palazzo pants! In the evening, we got all dolled up and headed out to the AIFW Celebrity Walk for Charity held at 200 Peachtree.
 

Sunday was perfect for a summer inspired Fashion ICON showing at FutureVisions salon. It was a nice cap to a busy weekend and first week in business! 

Overall, this week we saw items from Laha clothing, Aquavida swimwear, and more. 

All in all, an amazing and whirlwind first few days of shopacrewd.com. What did you do this weekend?

Street Style Saturday: Kristin Edition

We love streetstyle and we love Atlanta. It only makes sense to highlight some of the great styles that we witness daily. It feels like we are constantly stopping people to compliment their style or ask them where they bought an item. And thankfully the charming dwellers of this city are always happy to oblige and tell us more about their outfits or favorite spots to shop. Like any good southerners, we want to share with y'all.
We decided to start a segment called, "Street Style Saturdays" where we highlight some of our favorite fashionistas that pound the pavement like a runway. Be on the lookout, because we might be stalking a location near you and would love to feature you on our blog!

We found Kristin in Buckhead and she caught our eye not only because of her fun-sized stature (she stands at a whopping 4'10"!) but also because of her ability to turn a possibly drab work ensemble into something fun and her own. By adding just a few colorful and patterned accessories she took this look from behind a desk to in front of the camera. She's an inspiration to any cubical dweller that one can stand out from the sea of gray and let their personality shine through from Monday through Friday.

Going for gold

With the London 2012 Olympic Games starting up in just a few days, it's hard not to catch some of the excitement. While our budget doesn't allow for us to jump the pond, there are many ways to get in the Olympic spirit by visiting your closet. Sport (ha, a pun!) your country's colors or flag or simply go for the bronze, silver or preferably gold accessories. Then head to your favorite spot to watch the games go down.

For every bright and neon action there exists an equal and opposite neutral reaction. 
The law of balance in fashion can be seen in the pairing of neons and neutrals this summer. When looking at the saturated hues, it is an intimidating question of how to work these into your every day wardrobe without looking like a late night speed walker. But fear not, because we have some examples for how to dampen the blow of these very bright hues by simply pairing them with neutrals like gray, white, and nudes.
