Street Style Sunday: World Edition

This week rather than focusing on a single, local subject, I'd like to bring a collection of some particularly great streetstyle shots from a few of my favorite blogs:

   

   

   

 

Here we have photos capturing the styles of individuals from Buenos Aires, the UK, Chicago, New York and Stockholm. I love reading streetstyle blogs because it gives me such inspiration for what to wear (obviously), how to translate budding trends into everyday wardrobe choices, and it gives me a chance to admire the photography skills and scenery of a different city and land. I've always wanted to travel the world and this gives me a peak into the lifestyle of others in more exotic locales than myself. I do love Atlanta's style, and hope to bring more notice it to it through my streetstyle segments, but I guess I wanted to share a little of why street style is important to me and why I love it.
In essence, it makes me look for opportunities to create a beautiful picture of the people and places I see.   

Long Live the Legacy

By now, most of us have snagged a peak at the Coach Legacy Collection, the fantastic evolution from the classic archives of Coach. The new line keeps the classic lines and bold colors that were a staple of the vintage predecessor. Yes, the logo lines are still wonderful but they have been seen on the arms of every suburban preteen to their mom and it's good to get a break. A return to the classic turn lock and iconic straps is a breath of fresh air - not your normal revamping and very true to what Coach says about the line, "Classic yet completely new." Seeing the Legacy Collection brings me back to some of the vintage classics that I've found over the years. Purses and clutches are items I am always looking for while thrifting and rare purses and vintage Coach handbags are at the top of the list. Nothing compares to the old leathers, the suede linings and the quality turn lock closures.The colors even seem to get richer over time. Acrewd's Guide to Treasure Hunting: Part One

Step 1: Turn regular travel into shopping trip

One of the greatest reasons for starting acrewd e-boutique is the thrill of the hunt for unique apparel treasures. For me, finding the inventory serves as an adventure as I get to travel and bring back items to make available to you in the comfort of your home. Iwant to bring you those timeless one-of-a-kind fashions and accessories that bring life to your everyday wardrobe. Not everyone has the time to wander aimlessly through antique markets and thrift stores, nor does everyone have the desire to, but I sure do! So I'll take you through my most recent shopping trip and where it took me.

My husband and I recently went on a trip to Blairsville, Georgia in the north Georgia mountains to visit his family's cabin. I saw this as a chance to build my inventory, take the dogs for a much needed swim in the lake, and to stop by one of my favorite BBQ restaurants Poole's BBQ in Ellijay, GA. The next day, we went exploring the nearby area and drive without much purpose. We found a great antique shop, Victoria's Antique Mall, near Young Harris, GA nestled in a small shopping center. It was full of antique furniture, costume jewelry, hats, clothing, fur wraps, purses...anything you can think of. You'll see some of these finds in the accessory and vintage pages of our store. 

Another great find on this trip was a whimsical little shop and studio called the Sleepy Hollow. There's a ton of information on their site but to highlight a few points, the artist at this shop touts such credits as work for Disney, Dollywood and Neverland Ranch. For a side trip that began as a complicated U-turn, it turned out to be one of those hidden gems and something we felt lucky to stumble upon. Not your ordinary shop in the north GA mountains. Then again, that's part of why we love this.

Street Style Saturday: Amy Edition

It's that time of the week again when we bring you snapshots of fabulous looking people around the Atlanta area. Today we have Amy, a friend I met for lunch this week. Normally we try to look outside of our inner circle, but when someone looks good it's hard not to take notice. We met for lunch at the Howell Mill Square shopping center and when I arrived, something clicked into place when I saw her ensemble:

 

I've been looking at modern day business wear in a new light lately, and with the fall bringing new patterns and new suits, it's fun to see someone doing it right. Here she pairs crisp white pants, a fun, sheer and textured multicolored tank, and a dark contrasting blazer to bring new life and energy to business wear. I'm definitely looking forward to fall and mixing some colorful blazers and neutral pants or tweeds.

Look of the Day: A Perfect

I love to style a complete look, so I decided to feature some favorite items together to achieve the ultimate put together head to toe look. This look features a favorite dress - a J.Crew blue woven dress.  Its styling and detail and most of all its phenomenal color are just a few of the reasons this dress is currently topping our list. Paired here with some lovely antique accessories (including that phone - ha!) and leopard print shoes, the look becomes the perfect balance of classic and chic.

 

Places To Love: Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party

Embarking on a new segment to our blog, we'd like to highlight some of our favorite places and finds around the Atlanta area. Dr  Bombay's Underwater Tea Party in Candler Park is such a unique gem. We visited the other night for a roaming acrewd meeting and the atmosphere got our creativity flowing. The wall shelves are packed with books and the mismatched plate ware, upside down umbrellas on the ceilings, and borderline creepy painting adorned walls -- this is the perfect assorted mix that almost doesn't make sense. It's like that daring mix of prints or colors that, once a complete outfit on your body, seem like they were always meant to be together. Throw in a delightful tea selection, a traditional high tea service, lots of seating arrangements, yummy things to nibble on and free wifi and you have the perfect place to brainstorm. And that's why it's our first pick for Places To  Love.
